<p dir="ltr">I own my own cable modem. Unfortunately, I am now behind the times and cannot take advantage of the new DOCSIS3 speeds.</p>
<p dir="ltr">It's nice to save the rental fee, but then you have to bear the cost of upgrades and repairs.</p>

With respect to Comcast, what are people's experiences with cable modems? Does anyone on list own theirs or rent at $7/mo? I'm considering buying a modem just so I can knock one more cost off their billing. They're relatively cheap now and the breakeven is just at or under a year now.<br>
