[LUNA] Issues trying to reset NIC IP address w/ ifconfig ....

I am having issues trying to reset the IP address of the (onboard) NIC
under FBSD 9.3-p2:

I used ifconfig to reset the netmask yesterday successfully, just can't
get the address to change. I need to (temporarily) change the address to
setup a newly acquired WatchGuard FireBox Edge firewall appliance, which
apparently requires the addressing computer to be on the same (rather
restricted) subnet. Any help appreciated :-) .... TIA ....
