[LUNA] Just heard that LUNA is back!

Just remembered what I meant to add but forgot what it was and then
remembered to add the forgotten rememberance - beh.

It was mentioned we tried getting a speaker (paid). At one time we had
actually had discussions about Eric Raymond (Bazaar) coming to speak.
Without the mail archive I can't tell you you was looking into it though
it may have been Todd Stevens (really stretching my memory and I think
that was his name). At that time he was one of the defacto leaders ("in
the absence of genuine leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps
up" - not saying anything negative about Todd). If I recall the issue
came down to cost and how to raise funds or find sponsorship for ESR
coming to town. This was late 1990's (1996-1998) prior to Linux or OSS
getting sufficient foothold outside of the geekery. The movement died
with that challenge.

I'm not sure if this is still a topic of interest, but recommend
starting small. ESR would have been a big fish, but would only have
drawn the geekdom. Now I would focus more on the business side, for
example my current client has been migrating off of other *nixes and
onto RHEL over the past 3-4 years (still a few Solaris boxes around).
What are the technical, business or organizational challenges for such a
move? How do you manage 3000+ servers? Other non-"I wrote this kernel
driver" type topics would likely appeal to a broader audience. Please
realize I'm not trying to be derogatory towards either kernel or device
developers - they're just a more focused and finite audience (and likely
harder to find sponsors for out of town speakers).

Not the most exciting, but I'd be willing to step up and speak about
user administration via LDAP directory services, privileged user
management, or any other Identity and Access Governance topics.
